El Pulpo & partner

De Argentijnse maestro Norberto Esbrez (1966, Buenos Aires) wordt el Pulpo genoemd om zijn vloeiende, draaiende dansstijl vol uitzonderlijk benenwerk.

Als danser, choreograaf en docent heeft Pulpo bijna 25 jaar ervaring. Hij werkte voor de grote theaters en tangogelegenheden in Buenos Aires, geeft wereldwijd les en stond 11 jaar achtereenvolgens op het CITA festival in Buenos Aires. Zijn beleving van de tango gaat vele jaren verder, als zoon en kleinzoon van (professioneel) bandoneonspelers. 

Hoewel zijn dans wortelt in de traditionele tango, heeft hij belangrijke concepten en bewegingen van de tango nuevo gecreëerd (suspension, elevador, el elastico, trap sacadas, continuous ganchos, spiral turns...). 

14.00-15.15 uur: Continuous ganchos

Before the 90 's, ganchos were used previous to a stop in the dance, showing a strong beat. It was very rare to see any dancer execute more then three ganchos without stopping every time. Pulpo started to introduce sequential Ganchos without stops. 
There are different ways to use continuous ganchos. Some are made when the woman passes over the leg of the man, in others men pass over the leg of the woman. Both can be mixed as well, or the woman can execute double or triple internal ganchos. 
It is one of the most difficult movements to make with fluidity and softness. 
Continuous Ganchos show the ability of both dancers when it comes to using the variation in the music. 
Pulpo is a specialist in this kind of entangled leg movements. 

15.30-16.45 uur: Spiral turns

The Spiral turns are used to dislocate like a chain on the dance floor, always pointing in the direction in which we want to walk, in this case in the sense of the dance on the floor, starting in one point and finishing in the same direction
